Irony: Convicted rapist wins lottery benefitting anti-rape charity


Meet Alec Ahsoak he is proof that someone has a sense of humor, and a better handle on the definition of irony than Alannis Morrisette. Alec Ahsoak is the winner of a $500,000 Alaskan statewide lottery to benefit a nonprofit group that aids victims of sexual abuse, he is also a convicted sex offender.

The lucky sex offender winner Alec Ahsoak, 53, came forward to claim his winnings on Saturday in Anchorage.

Its been reported that the organiser of the lottery said that Ahsoak was going to buy a house, donate some of the winnings to the charity Standing Together Against Rape, it can’t be confirmed if the rest is going on candy and a remodelled basement.

Ahsoak was convicted of two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in 1993, and once again in 2000, according to the state’s sex offender registry and first reported Saturday evening by KTUU, Channel 2.

Promoters billed the jackpot as the largest in state history. They drew the winning ticket Friday night, but the winner remained a mystery until Ahsoak approached a local TV station declaring that he had won showing off the the winning ticket.

When it was later discivered that he was a past sex offender, Ahsoak told the station that he had worked hard to turn his life around, has been in treatment for the past year and wanted to use part of his winnings to help others.
