Ellen Pompeo Baby News: Actress Welcomes Second Daughter With Husband Chris Ivery

Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery just welcomed a new baby girl to their family, and fans had no clue they were expanding their family. Little Sienna May Ivery was born recently via a surrogate, and the Grey’s Anatomy star has just announced her arrival. Sienna joins big sister Stella Luna.

Pompeo and Ivery’s daughter Stella is 5-years-old, and it seems Sienna was born just a few weeks ago. The Grey’s Anatomy star shared the big news via Twitter by sharing a picture of Chris kissing his new daughter.

Pompeo wrote,

“Sienna May Ivery welcome to the world. We love you more than words can say.”

In a tweet, Ellen added the detail that Sienna was born via a surrogate, and she thanked her television family for helping her family enjoy their first few weeks together privately. As Us Weekly notes, Pompeo, 44, and Ivery, 46, have a habit of keeping their major milestones under wraps for a bit. The two got married in November 2007, and it was something they kept very quiet at the time, as well.

Ellen and Chris exchanged vows in front of Mayor Michael Bloomberg at City Hall in Manhattan in 2007 with nobody knowing a thing until after the fact. Of course, her pregnancy with daughter Stella Luna was less mysterious as she was pregnant throughout her time filming the show.

Pompeo is currently in the midst of season 11 of Grey’s Anatomy. However, she recently indicated that she doesn’t necessarly have a strong desire to continue to act once her run as Meredith Gray is done. She said she doesn’t find acting to be particularly empowering, and she feels that she’s transitioning.

Ellen added that she doesn’t necessarily want to continue to work for other people. Could these thoughts all be related to the fact that as she shared them, she knew a second daughter was about to join the family?

Pompeo wouldn’t be the first actress to make a significant career transition based on family. In fact, Alyssa Milano just shared that she’s decided to leave the ABC show Mistresses after just two seasons due to the fact that production is moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver.

There’s no indication that Pompeo is looking to change anything with her Grey’s Anatomy role, though, and show creator Shonda Rhimes is known for working with the stars of her shows to accommodate growing families. Congratulations to Chris Ivery and Ellen Pompeo on baby Sienna May Ivery’s arrival!
