Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 getting free ‘Heroes vs Heralds’ DLC post-launch [Video]

Post-launch DLC is quite the norm lately – heck, it’s to be expected with just about any high profile release – but post-launch DLC that’s free isn’t exactly normal. Thankfully, Capcom doesn’t care about “normal” – they’re making Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3‘s first post-launch DLC absolutely free.

Unlike Marvel vs Capcom 3‘s Event Mode, which was patched in after release, this mode has a bit more substance to it. Dubbed Heroes vs Heralds, the mode introduces a new ability card system that allows you to beef up your team with special abilities such as invisibility, all-new combo chains, parries and even more still.

The mode will be playable both offline and online, with cards being collected offline. It appears to be similar to Street Fighter X Tekken‘s recently-announced gem system, and adds a nice touch for those who want their fighting games changed up a bit.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 15.
