‘Walking Dead’ Season 5: Norman Reedus Thinks Daryl Dixon ‘Has No Game’

When it comes to killing zombies on The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus thinks Daryl Dixon is your guy. When it comes to his character macking it to the ladies, however, Reedus thinks his character’s got a lot to learn.

In a recent interview with GQ, the topic of Daryl Dixon’s love life – or lack thereof – was broached with Reedus who summarized his character’s ineptitude rather bluntly:

“I don’t know if [he’s] a virgin but [he’s] definitely somebody that’s not got game. He’s definitely not a ladies man or thinks of himself as having enough confidence to be that type of person.”

Norman went on to elaborate further, telling GQ it would be “interesting” if Daryl was a virgin. His former boss, Frank Darabont, however had a decidedly different idea in mind for Dixon:

“I remember Frank Darabont, after the first season we were at a party in LA, He said, ‘I’ve got an idea for Daryl. He’s gay. Would you be interested in that?’ I was like, ‘Let me hear you out.’ He said, ‘Well, he’s prison gay—like, you’ll catch him looking at a member of the same sex, but if you mention it to him, he’ll just stab you and be like what the fuck?—he will never admit it.’ I was like, ‘That’ll blow minds—let’s do that.’ And he said, ‘I knew I hired you for a reason.’ “

The subject of Daryl Dixon’s love life has been hotly debated amongst Walking Dead fans since the show debuted five years ago. While many fans want to see Reedus’s character hookup with Beth, played by Emily Kinney or Carol, played by Melissa McBride – a multitude of viewers have speculated that Daryl may, in fact, be gay.

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has yet to reveal whether or not this is the case, but as reported by Inquistr, he’s left the door open to the possibility.

Aside from dishing on Daryl Dixon’s love life, Norman also shared his opinions on what his character would be doing if there were no zombie apocalypse. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Norman offered these thoughts on what Daryl’s day-to-day life if he firing arrows at the Undead:

“I think if the zombie apocalypse didn’t happen, Daryl would be probably with his brother doing crime. I think he would probably be up to no good. I think he would probably have no friends but his brother. He would just probably be an a–hole.”

Norman Reedus returns as Daryl Dixon when The Walking Dead Season Five premieres October 12th on AMC.
