E! Online reports that the Amanda Bynes DUI charge is a misdemeanor that came after officers determined that she was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Bynes, 28, was then taken to the Van Nuys, California, police station.
Amanda posted $15,000 bail and was released at 12:44 p.m. Sunday afternoon. She will now face a court hearing related to the incident on October 23. Little else regarding what exactly transpired Sunday morning has been revealed as of yet.
As many know, Bynes has gone through a couple of very tough years. She had a number of incidents throw her into the headlines as she seemingly spiraled out of control, including a 2012 DUI arrest. Amanda received probation for three years after that incident.

Her life has been fairly quiet of late, ever since she left a treatment facility where she was reportedly treated for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The treatment stint came after she lit someone’s driveway on fire in California, an incident that also injured her dog.
Amanda’s mother has claimed that her daughter is not dealing with those mental health issues. In fact, Lynn Bynes indicated that Amanda has no mental illness issues and had stopped all medications. Many worried that this medication stoppage would lead to issues like what Amanda was doing before heading to treatment, but until now, things have been quiet.
