Leah Remini and J. Lo Involved In Hit And Run Car Accident On Pacific Coast Highway

Leah Remini’s weekend is off to a rough start. According to TMZ, the actress was driving on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu with best friend Jennifer Lopez and her two children. Remini came to a stop at a red light. A short time later, a pickup truck rear ended the car, which is owned by Lopez, and fled the scene. Remini and Lopez called 911, and deputies found the driver at fault a short distance away. The driver of the pickup truck which struck Remini and Lopez was allegedly under the influence. The driver is now facing charges of driving under the influence and hit and run. No injuries were reported.

Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez have been close friends for years. The two were recently spotted outside Ago Restaurant in West Hollywood. While there have been no reports about what the two discussed, celebrity columns had a grand time examining both stars clothes. J. Lo, ever the style trendsetter, kept it casual but on point in an olive green jumpsuit. Remini opted for a more edgy look in a black leather skirt with leopard print heels.

Remini made waves on celebrity news websites last year when she left the Church of Scientology. Remini voiced concerns about the alleged disappearance of Church of Sceientology leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelly Miscavige. Remini went so far as to file a missing persons report on Shelly Miscavige, who Remini claims has not made a public appearance since 2007. The missing person’s report led to a very public shunning of Remini by members of the Church of Scientology.

According to TMZ, police made contact with Shelly Miscavige after the missing persons report was filed. In an article about Miscavige, Vanity Fair theorized that the Miscavige disappearance was connected to a fall from favor and the breakdown of her marriage to David Miscavige. The article goes on to speculate that Shelly Miscavige is in a secluded Scientology compound and refuses to leave because of her devotion to the religion.

While Shelly Miscavige may be in good health, the misunderstanding hasn’t brought Remini back into the Scientology fold. In fact, longtime Scientology practitioner Kirstie Alley spoke candidly to Howard Stern about Remini late last year, calling her a “bigot” and “enemy” despite the fact that the two women were once friends.

Since leaving the Church of Scientology, which she says she ultimately did to protect her daughter, Sophia, Remini starred in a reality show on TLC called Leah Remini: It’s All Relative, which focused on Remini and her family in the wake of the split from the Church of Scientology.
