Chelsea Clinton Gives Birth! World, Meet Charlotte, The New Grandbaby-In-Chief

Chelsea Clinton has given birth to a new grandbaby-in-chief to former President Bill Clinton and possible future President Hillary Clinton.

Early Saturday morning, Clinton announced via tweet that her and husband Marc had welcomed their bundle of joy into the world, naming her Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

“Marc and I are full of love, awe, and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky,” Chelsea shared in an identical post that later appeared on Facebook.

Thus far, the Facebook post is up to 30,545 likes, 1,767 shares, and more than 4,000 comments. (And we’re just getting started!) The original tweet had been retweeted 3,200 times and favorited 5,700 at the same time.

The last mention that The Inquisitr had of Clinton prior to Saturday’s announcement involved nursery decor.

Tracey Parece reported that despite the family’s political leanings, Chelsea Clinton would be decorating Charlotte’s nursery in elephants (the GOP mascot) instead of donkeys (Democrats).

“We’re very baby-oriented right now, so we’ll definitely be buying a felt elephant or two,” Clinton said in the previous report. “I think those will look great in our nursery. And, it’s safe to say that as last year, this year too, a lot of our friends will be getting elephant-themed Christmas presents.”

Prior to the nursery announcement, Clinton made the news at the end of August for quitting her high-paying correspondent job at NBC. At that point, the end of the pregnancy was close to fruition, so we really couldn’t blame her even though her brief run was memorable.

As of this post, the Clintons have stayed pretty mum on Charlotte’s length and weight, though it’s apparent from the sheer joy of all parties involved that there weren’t any complications.

The one complication that may arise has nothing to do with Chelsea or Charlotte. With a new granddaughter to play with, it’ll be interesting to see whether Hillary Clinton decides to pursue a 2016 presidential run.

While she has majority support at this time, she has lost ground in recent polls, and the GOP hasn’t even begun to ready the ammunition, digging in to Hillary’s past in an effort to discredit her as a champion of women’s rights.

Is all the political muckraking that’s sure to come worth it when you can just be a grandma? Who knows? For now, let’s just sign off by congratulating Chelsea Clinton et al. on the birth of Charlotte. Welcome to the world, baby girl!
