Microsoft accepting applicants for Xbox Live dashboard preview program

If you’d like to get your hands on Microsoft’s second UI upgrade for the Xbox 360, Major Nelson announced by way of his blog earlier today that applications are now open for an early-access preview of the new interface.

The update will allow you to test out thew new and improved UI – with and without Kinect – as well as cloud storage for your game saves, deeper Facebook integration, and the new “Beacon” system.

Microsoft didn’t make any promises, but it was noted in the post that other applications and features may be made available as the preview program moves forward.

Also of note, Major Nelson stated that, unlike one of Microsoft’s other preview program rollouts, you should still be able to interact with your friends by way of party chat and private chat after receiving the update. No new sound codecs, in other words.

If you’re interested in signing up for a shot to test it out, you can do so by heading over to this link and filling out the application – which, by the way, is a lot more streamlined this time around.

If you don’t get into the program, don’t feel too bad about it. After all, you’ll only have a month to wait to get your hands on it yourself. What’s a month’s wait when you have all of these upcoming games to play?
