$400 Million Lemon: Hard Rock Park Closes

The Hard Rock Park, a Rock ‘n’ Roll themed amusement park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is closing less than one year after opening its doors.

The Hard Rock Park filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September owing between $100 million and $500 million and a bankruptcy judge approved Wednesday the park’s request to begin liquidation. The park cost $400 million to develop.

The 55 acre park was billed as the world’s first rock ‘n’ roll theme park and offered attractions including Led Zeppelin The Ride, Magic Mushroom Garden and Kid’s Rock State Park.

The company behind the development of the park, SafeHarbor Holdings is the same company behind the proposed development of Bible Park USA.
