Grandma Leads Police in 27 Mile Slow Speed Chase

A 76-year-old woman had 27-miles to elude police, but at a speed of only 10 mph, the cops were easily able to stay on her tail. Caroline Turner led police on a slow speed chase through England that only ended when the British police force set up a rolling road block and tapped on the woman’s window.

But Turner wasn’t blissfully unaware of the cop’s presence. She just refused to acknowledge them. When the officer tapper on her window she rolled down the glass and said:

“There’s nothing to discuss. I’m going home.”

The Daily Mail reports that the chase started when the 76-year-old was spotted driving the wrong way around a roundabout. A police car switched on its flashing lights but Turner refused to pullover.

So slowly, they followed the 76-year-old woman for 27-miles around England at a speed no greater than 20 mph. Police eventually set up a rolling road block to slow Turner down even more, allowing an officer to run up beside her and knock on her window.

When Turner finally did pull over she was arrested and put in a holding cell overnight. Police said that they were afraid that if they let Turner drive away she may have caused an accident.

Turner appeared before magistrates in Colchester, Essex, who banned from driving for a year.

Turner, who has 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, said:

“I am not exonerating myself – my driving was not up to its usual high standards – but there was a lack of good lighting and I went the wrong way.”

Do you think the one-year driving ban for Caroline Turner is just?
