Google’s Own Executives Haven’t Warmed Up To Google+

A good salesperson understands that they can’t sell a product unless they make their potential buyers feel like it’s a product they use themselves on a daily basis, that’s why it’s odd to learn that the top layer of Google management haven’t warmed to the idea of using their own Google+ system.

According Michael Degusta at the understatement, of the company’s top 18 executives only two are considered “active” users on the social networking service. Five more of Google’s top executives are considered “minimal users” and one of those executives is company co-founder and CEO Larry Page who has only posted seven times since the platform launched.

The study also found that eight top executives have never posted while three employees including chairman Eric Schmidt don’t have Google+ accounts at all, at least not under their real names.

According to Degusta:

“Management caring deeply about their company’s products and using them every day is almost always a prerequisite of making great products.”

In comparison Mark Zuckerberg is connected to Facebook all day long while Twitter CEO Dick Costolo almost seems on rapid fire with his Tweeting on some days.

Do you feel as if Google executives need to show more confidence in the Google+ platform by investing a little bit of time on their accounts each day?

  1. Just because they aren't posting publicly doesn't mean they aren't using it. And I don't know about you but likening the Google exec's to sales people is a bit stupid. I want my mechanic to be making my car run better not driving round the block in it.

  2. I absolutely want my mechanic to be driving my car around the block, in fact my brother-in-law who is a master mechanic and very good at his job would insist upon it. You can't say how to better a product or understand it's fault until you take it for a test drive. You wouldn't buy a car and concede that it's perfect if you didn't take it for a drive and a salesman wouldn't try to sell you the car without knowing how it handles.

  3. James Allen Johnson Sorry I shouldn't have bothered commenting. The article was not worthy of the 15 seconds it took me to write something. I'll be going back to my 5 way hangout, with the guys I work with now where we are collaboratively working on a google doc in real time.

Like I care what Google executives are doing, as long as their company keeps making shit that works, and makes my life easier.

But by all means keep doing what ever it is that you do. I am sure you're making peoples lives easier.
