Cher Sued: Singer Accused Of Racial Discrimination, Calls Allegations ‘Ridiculous’

A new lawsuit where Cher is being sued by three of her former dancers has the singer denying new claims of racial discrimination. TMZ reported on the Cher lawsuit after the site obtained the court documents in the case. Two of the dancers filed the lawsuit claiming racial discrimination and retaliation after Cher fired them from her 2014 Dressed to Kill Tour.

Kevin Wilson is the main plaintiff in this case, and he was the head choreographer on her tour. Wilson revealed in the court documents that the singer showed her racist side when they were casting new dancers for the tour. She had ideas for what she wanted to see in her backup dancers. He said that he was told “there was too much color onstage” by Cher. She wanted more blonde dancers, and she did not want any African-Americans with dark skin.

However, that is not the source of the lawsuit. The reason for the lawsuit came in June. Cher fired Wilson and two of the dancers from her tour when she wanted to cover up an incident that happened with one of the dancers and a female fan. The male dancer took the woman back to his hotel room, and he was sexually aggressive with the woman. Cher wanted to hide the incident, but Wilson and the two dancers reported the occurrence to their managers.

It was following this incident that Cher fired the three dancers. Budget cuts were cited as the reason for the firings, but her tour has done well. The Dressed to Kill tour grossed almost $55 million for the singer, and it is not over yet.

Cher’s representative did speak out about the allegations and the lawsuit.

“These are ridiculous allegations. They couldn’t be further from the truth. [These allegations are] untrue and categorically denied. To attribute such a statement to Cher is absurd.”

According to Access Hollywood, the three dancers sued Cher for $10 million in damages. Kevin Wilson and dancer Suzanne Eastern accused Cher of racial discrimination, and the third dancer, 42-year-old Jacquelyn Dowsett Ballinger, is claiming age discrimination. These are not new dancers to Cher’s group; the three dancers worked with Cher for over 10 years before she fired them earlier this summer. Cher postponed her tour earlier this month due to illness. She will be back on the road in Canada in October.

This is not the only case of racial discrimination causing buzz in Hollywood this week. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Danièle Watts accused cops of racial discrimination after they stopped her for kissing her boyfriend in public. He is white. They accused the Django Unchained star of being a prostitute.
