Joan Rivers’ Replacement On ‘Fashion Police’: Melissa Rivers May Take Her Mother’s Place

Just two weeks after Joan Rivers died, fans are wondering who will replace her on Fashion Police. Despite rumors that the E! show would be cancelled, OK! Magazine reports that Rivers would not want that to happen, so the search is on for someone who is worthy of filling her chair.

“They’ve debated ending the show, but they know that’s not what Joan would have wanted.”

Fashion Police stopped taping shortly after Joan Rivers was admitted to Mt. Sinai hospital on August 28, after suffering from cardiac arrest during a routine throat procedure performed at an outpatient clinic in Manhattan. After her death on September 4, the show continued to stay off the air, but OK! now reports that producers are trying to find a suitable replacement so the show can continue.

E! producers have a few people in mind to takeover where Joan Rivers left off, with rumors circulating that the Fashion Police team really wants Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, to takeover where her mother left off. There is no doubt that Melissa would do a great job on the show, considering she previously hosted fashion on the red carpet interviews for E!. Melissa was also a co-creator and co-producer of her mother’s hilarious YouTube series In Bed with Joan.

If Melissa declines the offer to host Fashion Police, there is no doubt Joan’s fans would totally understand. Taking over the position Melissa’s mother held for the past four years may be too difficult to handle right now, especially while she is still in the grieving stages following the tragic death of her mother.

On Wednesday, Melissa posted a note to her mother’s fans on WhoSay, thanking everyone for their support after Joan Rivers’ death.

“As my son Cooper and I mourn the loss of my mother, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and flowers conveying heartfelt messages and condolences… We are forever grateful for your kindness and support in continuing to honor my mother’s legacy, and for remembering the joy and laughter that she brought to so many.”

OK! reports that there are other people being considered to host Fashion Police if Melissa Rivers doesn’t want the job. Both Kathy Griffin, a good friend of Joan’s, and Hello Ross host Ross Matthews are in the running for Joan’s coveted spot.

If Melissa Rivers doesn’t take over for her mother on Fashion Police, who would you like to see in Joan Rivers’ chair?
