Don Omar, Jackie Guerrido’s Ex, Arrested For Domestic Violence, Released On Bail
Don Omar, reggaeton king and ex husband of Jackie Guerrido, was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving an ex-girlfriend in Puerto Rico. According to ABC News, Don Omar, aka William Omar Landron, was arrested on Wednesday, September 17, at a home in Vega Alta, police say. The domestic violence charges stem from two prior incidents where Omar allegedly pointed a gun at ex girlfriend Rebeca Lopez, 26.
Villa Palmeras, Puerto Rico, native Don Omar appeared in the 2009 movie Fast and Furious, and is best known for his timeless music that has continued to fascinate both Latin America and the U.S.
Prosecutor Mibari Rivera made the following statement concerning the domestic violence arrest, according to Latin Times.
“The charges against Don Omar are based on two incidents which took place between August and September this year. In August, he pointed a firearm at her, and in September there was verbal psychological abuse and also by text messages.”
Omar arrived in the courtroom where the judge set a bail of $600,000, an amount that his attorneys felt was tantamount to bail set for a murder charge. The “Pobre Diabla” singer’s mother, Toñita Rivera, was in court for the hearing along with his brother.
Rumors of domestic violence have followed the reggaeton king for years. Omar is described as extremely passionate and intense in his relationships, but is insanely jealous and prone to violence. Sources say the case was no different with ex-wife Puerto Rican beauty Jackie Guerrido, whom he married in 2008 and divorced in 2011.
According to Primera Ahora, Jackie Guerrido’s marriage to Don Omar was plagued by domestic violence and ended with Omar throwing out Guerrido’s clothes and setting them on fire. Sources, who claimed to have witnessed Omar’s obsessive behavior first hand, say he was jealous of his wife’s close associations with certain male coworkers, and that William Omar Landron, constantly demanded answers from Jackie regarding her whereabouts and with whom she was spending her time.
Jackie Guerrido, who was once known as the beautiful Latina weather girl on Despierta America, fell in love with Don Omar after a whirlwind romance which shocked most of Guerrido’s friends and family.
