RAGE PC issues are driver-related, fix inbound

Posted: October 4, 2011

If you’ve been playing RAGE on the PC lately, chances are you’ve noticed at least one of several GPU-related bugs and glitches of various sorts, including video options not applying, textures being slow to stream in, and full-on crashes.

Fret not, though – id Software are aware, and are working to get fixes out as soon as possible. Over on the Bethesda blog, Bethesda pointed at driver issues as the main cause for most complications PC users are experiencing. AMD has already released a new set of drivers that fix a few of the issues, and Bethesda notes that they’re working with NVIDIA on getting a new driver set out as soon as possible.

In the meantime, your best solution, if you own an NVIDIA card, to get rid of at least some of the problems is to make sure your drivers are up to date. For AMD users, you’re advised to not use the RAGE beta drivers that were released yesterday. AMD is reporting that there are issues with the drivers that cause a crash to desktop 100% of the time, so you’ll have to revert to an older driver set for now.

For an example of one of the errors PC users are reporting, see the video below.
