Hello Kitty Plane Makes Flying Fun


Taiwanese Carrier, EVA Air has revealed its new Hello Kitty themed plane in honor of the 40th birthday of the iconic Japanese cartoon character.

The colourful jet will be a delight to Hello Kitty fans who will be inundated with images of the character on the plane. The plane is covered from inch to inch with Hello Kitty. Over 100 cabin features such as head rest covers, pillows, arm rest, playing cards and even the air sickness bags are decorated with the beloved cartoon. Hello Kitty merchandise can also be purchased inflight and through the airline’s e-commerce portal.

The Daily Mail reported that as of October 29 the Hello Kitty plane will will start flying between the capitals of Paris and Taipei as it makes its debut in Europe.

According to EVA, the Hello Kitty plane has been designed in partnership with the cartoon character’s creators, Sanrio, to ‘make flying fun and spread happiness among passengers all over the globe.’

The special edition Boeing 777-300ER which was transformed with the Hello Kitty theme originally flew from Taipei to Los Angeles. The aircraft will now be used for three of the weekly flights that EVA makes to Paris, according to The Daily Mail.

Yahoo Travel detailed the planned itinerary for the Hello Kitty plane.

“The Hello Kitty flights will depart from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle (CDG) on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. On the return journey, it will fly on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.”

Hailed as a global marketing phenomenon, Hello Kitty branded products span a wide range of consumer goods, including pre-paid credit cards. A recent Inquisitr article revealed that Sanrio has announced plans to release a brand new line of products targeted at males.

EVA in a bid to expand its global reach has aligned itself with the Hello Kitty brand. The company’s website has been rebranded to reflect the Hello Kitty theme, fully marketing its Hello Kitty flights and Hello Kitty products. The EVA-Sanrio partnership was explained on the website.

“EVA Air and Sanrio teamed up to create a special design for the first long-range Hello Kitty plane. The always charming Kitty gives travellers a warm welcome, hand-in-hand with her friends and family on both sides of the fuselage. The cheerful display of characters of all shapes and sizes, joining hands the entire length of the aircraft, invites new friends from around the world.”

The new plane brings the number of Hello Kitty planes to six.
