Lifetime Network Re-Airing Amanda Knox Story With Updated Info

The Lifetime Network is planning to air a new ending in their made-for-TV movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy on Tuesday night. The new ending will be updated to reflect the recent release of Knox after her case was overturned for a complete lack of evidence.

An Italian appeals court on Monday overturned the conviction of the 24-year-old after they determined that DNA was tainted and police misconduct may have occurred.

In 2009 Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison for her alleged part in the 2007 murder of college roommate Meredith Kercher. Amanda and Meredith shared a home together in the Italian town of Perugia.

Hayden Panettiere starred in the Knox movie on Lifetime which debuted in February and at the time of the airing the show reflected only Amanda’s conviction.

When the movie aired Knox’s legal team was outraged that the sensationalized movie could end up hurting their appeals case.

While new scenes will not be filmed Murder on Trial in Italy will now begin and end with text that explains the final outcome of the Knox trial as of this weeks appeals decision.

All future airings of the made-for-TV movie will feature the updated text.

Do you think the decision by Lifetime Network to update their movie was the right decision?
