Tom Brady ‘Happy’ About Patriots Win, But Sees Room For Improvement

After their season-opening loss to division rival Miami Dolphins, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots came back to beat the Minnesota Vikings 30-7. But Brady didn’t really seem too thrilled with the way the team performed.

In a related report from The Inquisitr, the Patriots’ loss to the Dolphins last week was the first time the team lost the season-opener since 2003. Tom Brady only had one touchdown pass during that game, and the Patriots failed to score any points in the second half.

According to a report from New England Sports Network, Tom Brady met with reporters for a brief period of time following the game. But Brady reportedly didn’t seem to be that cheerful about the win.

“I am happy we won; I just wish we went out there and played like we’re capable. It’s just the way it is. I am glad we won; it was a great team win, a lot of guys contributed, a lot of great plays were made. Hopefully, offensively, we can do a better job next week.”

Tom Brady threw for 149 yards and one touchdown. The Patriots’ offense tallied up 292 total yards with another touchdown coming from running back Stevan Ridley, after Devin McCourty intercepted Matt Cassel and ran the ball back to the 1-yard line.

While Brady seemed a little disappointed with the team’s overall performance, he did have some positive things to say. The Vikings sacked Brady three times during the game, which was less than the four times the Dolphins got to him last week.

“Yeah, I think we had pretty good control out there. We did a good job in the run game, took advantage of some opportunities, but hopefully we can do a lot better.”

Tom Brady also spoke highly of Julian Edelman, to whom the quarterback threw his only passing touchdown of the game, according to a report from WEEI.

“He’s doing a great job for us. He’s a great player, made some great punt returns, and he’s a great player for our team. Hopefully, we can keep making improvements, and he’s a big part of that. Hopefully, we can all get better.”

And while he praised the defense, Tom Brady also noted that there are some things at which the team needs to get better.

“We’re going to try to make improvements. That’s why we go back to work [Monday] and see if we can do better. Certainly, same way after last week, try to make some improvements and hopefully we can go out there and do a better job.”

Tom Brady and the Patriots will next face the Oakland Raiders at home on Sunday, September 21.
