Iconic New James Bond Villain To Appear In Next Film?

The 24th installment in the James Bond franchise is set to begin principal photography this December, and early reports suggest that a new, iconic villain may be set to square off against the debonair British secret agent.

As Comicbook.com notes, Bond 24 will begin filming on Dec 6th, with actor Daniel Craig reprising the role of James Bond for the fourth time. Director Sam Mendes, who was at the helm of the last installment, Skyfall, will be returning for the new film as well. Pinewood Studios in England will host the majority of the filming for Bond 24, though additional work will be done in Austria, Rome and possibly Morocco.

Bond 24 seems to be shaping up as a return to some of the franchise’s favored concepts, which have been largely abandoned during recent entries in the James Bond series. According to EnStars, the director has made it clear that the plot of Bond 24 will tie into Skyfall and will have repercussions for the plot of Bond 25 as well, leading to speculation that a major new Bond villain could be in the works.

Recently, Mstars News reported on a leaked casting call from Bond 24, which seems to support that theory. If genuine, it may indicate that the producers of the James Bond series intend “Hinx” to be a unique and unusual adversary for Daniel Craig.

“We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.”

“Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)”

“Ideally over 6? 2?. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”

“Height: 180cm – 195cm”

The Bond franchise lost one of its most beloved villains earlier this week when Actor Richard Kiel passed away at the age of 74, as The Inquisitr previously noted. Portraying Jaws in two films opposite Roger Moore as Bond, Kiel struck an imposing presence on screen, thanks to a physical stature of 7 feet, 2 inches. With the addition of a set of metallic teeth, Kiel quickly became a fan favorite.

Speaking to Vulture recently, Craig elaborated on James Bond’s rebirth at the end of Skyfall, and what differences we may see in the character in Bond 24.

“Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony,” Craig said, “and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche. I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense? I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it.”

James Bond 24 is scheduled for release on November 6th, 2015.
