WWE News: The Rock And John Cena Almost Fought Backstage

Two of the biggest superstars in WWE history took it to the squared circle at WrestleMania 28 and WrestleMania 29. Those matches weren’t the best from a pure wrestling standpoint, but from a nostalgic point of view, John Cena and the Rock created memories that will last forever. Throw away the IWC hat and put on the true wrestling fan cap.

Both men sacrificed their well-being to put on a show. On the microphone, aside from the “CM Punk vs. John Cena” feud, that program provided so many classic moments on the stick. Nobody will forget the Rock singing about Cena and the return of the Doctor of Thugonomics.

Despite what respect the two WWE legends have for each other, chaos almost ensued years ago during the Rock’s return to the WWE. Dwayne Johnson elaborated in an interview with Muscle and Fitness about his relationship with WWE, the possibility of a future return and how he and Cena almost got into a brawl backstage.

“John had said some things in an interview that I took exception. He felt they were okay, I felt that they weren’t okay. I also laughed it off years ago but it wasn’t until I came back and realized that the marquee match-up was going to be between he and I that I would take that edge that we had—and let’s use it. So, we don’t have to hang out, we don’t have to be best friends, we won’t be friends at all.”

Few wrestling analysts believe that Brock Lesnar should face the Rock at WrestleMania 31. Personally, that idea is ludicrous and should never take place. Reason being, Lesnar would hurt Johnson. Understand that the Rock is in prime athletic condition, but he got hurt during his last match with Cena.

A match with the Beast Incarnate is not the safest idea for someone his age and the continuous future in Hollywood. At the end of the day, Rock is an actor first and wrestler second. Getting hurt would only ruin his acting career for a long period of time.

Cena vs. Rock

One thing is for sure, and that is another “John Cena vs. the Rock” match will never happen again. Thank goodness for that reassurance, because a third one would make no sense. Just like a match with Stone Cold and the Rock would be desperate for viewers.

There are plenty of young guys to utilize instead. Speaking of, Vince McMahon is in the process of keeping Cena relevant. Like he needs to remain strong, the man will be a main-event player until he is done wrestling. Even after that, Cena is a main-event guy till death. Just like Hulk Hogan, the world will never get tired of Cena.

WWE needs more feuds with people that genuinely hate each other. More passion will be put in the promos, the matches and emotions exuberates before, during and after the match. Punk couldn’t stand McMahon and his love for bodybuilders. He resented Cena for getting the chances he didn’t. It worked.
