Palin Family Brawl Eyewitness Fired For Talking To Media

An eyewitness who spoke to the media about a brawl in Anchorage, Alaska which involved former Governor Sarah Palin’s family has been fired after recounting his story.

Eric Thompson, who appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America in a segment discussing Saturday night’s brawl, worked for McKenna Bros. Paving Company, Raw Story reports. McKenna Bros. hosted the party where the altercation took place, a birthday celebration for twins Matt and Marc McKenna, who own the company. In addition to his ABC interview, Thompson also recounted his story to Alaskan political blogger Amanda Coyne.

Elizabeth Applegate, a producer for Entertainment Tonight, tweeted that she had spoken to Thompson Friday morning, and that he had been fired specifically for speaking to the media about the brawl.

ET also relates that Thompson said he felt pressured to go through with the interview. He stated that many people in the area are supporters of the Palin family, and thought that his comments portrayed them badly. Thompson asserts, however, that he was only telling the truth.

As The Inquisitr has noted, Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News’ Hannity after the alleged brawl, but made no mention of the incident. The New York Times reports that police are still investigating the altercation, although neither the homeowner nor the Palins have expressed interest in pressing charges.

“Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the incident,” the police report stated. “Some of the Palin family members were in attendance at the party.”

It is believed that the brawl began when Track Palin confronted one of his sister Willow’s former boyfriends. A fight broke out, eventually involving as many as 20 people, according to witnesses. Bristol Palin is also alleged to have thrown several punches at the owner of the house during the melee, a fact which Thompson addressed during his Good Morning America interview. Eventually, the Palin family was asked to leave the event.

“I heard Sarah Palin scream out, ‘You know who we are, don’t you?'” Thompson related. “It was like we were just on a Jerry Springer episode.”

The Palin family have not commented on the brawl or Thompson’s firing.
