Juan Pablo Galavis Talks Nikki Ferrell, ‘Couples Therapy’ And More: What Does ‘The Bachelor’ Reveal?

Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell star in season 5 of Couples Therapy, which premieres on VH1 on Wednesday night. Does Juan Pablo and Nikki’s participation in the show spell doom for The Bachelor couple’s relationship? The VH1 previews for the show are pretty rocky, and now Juan Pablo is opening up a bit about why they chose to do the show.

Galavis tells Extra that they both had some issues that needed some help, and they are glad they did the show. Juan Pablo even admits that they were having enough of a tough time before doing the show that had they not, they “probably would have killed each other two weeks later.” Of course, he’s not entirely serious about that, but it does seem as if Couples Therapy came along at a critical juncture.

Communication and differing expectations were clearly topics addressed during Juan Pablo and Nikki’s time on Couples Therapy. Galavis adds that he needed some help in figuring out how to explain his relationship with Nikki to his daughter Camila, and they have had some challenges in maintaining a long-distance relationship. Though The Bachelor finale was filmed last November, Juan Pablo still lives in Miami while Nikki still lives in Kansas City.

Another interesting tidbit Galavis reveals is that he had been slated to do Dancing With the Stars, and that would have been for this past spring season. It had been widely rumored that Juan Pablo would be on the cast, but then there was a lot of controversy over a couple of sets of controversial and offensive remarks he made as his season aired. Many believe that those remarks torpedoed his DWTS chances, and it sure sounds from Juan Pablo’s Extra interview as if the decision wasn’t his.

Will Couples Therapy save Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell’s relationship? Will he start telling her he loves her, an issue that has been discussed in great detail and continues to be brought up? Juan Pablo simply teases that fans will have to stay tuned to find out on that one, but it comes up on the show. Season 5 also stars other controversial stars like Evel Dick Donato from Big Brother and former adult film actress Jenna Jameson.

The Bachelor fans will have to stay tuned to see if Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell can remain a couple once Couples Therapy is done. Season 5 debuts on Wednesday, September 10 on VH1.
