Denzel Washington For James Bond? He Certainly Hopes So

Denzel Washington has revealed that he wants to play James Bond one day.

The world’s most famous spy, who also goes by the code number 007, has been the main character in 23 films, and if Washington was to get his desire he would not only be the first black thespian to play the spy, but he would also be the first American to do so too.

During a Reddit question and answer session, Washington was asked which characters he would like to play, and after discussing potential comic-book protagonists he was then asked if he would be interested in being the next James Bond.

“The next James Bond?,” he responded. “They better hurry up! Yes I would! Who’s doing James Bond now… Daniel Craig! Did they shoot another one?”

Washington even then dreamed up a social media campaign that he hopes will ultimately result in him finally being the secret agent. “Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond,” he declared. “Send it to the studio. We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today!” The Two Guns and Training Day actor then even teased that they could probably change the name of the character to suit his unique talents. “James Washington” or “Denzel Bond,” were his suggestions.

During his discussions Washington also dismissed the notion that he could one day play a super-hero character. One question posed to him asked if he would ever consider starring in a Marvel or DC superhero, but Washington, who is clearly up to date with the comic-book characters that have already hit the big screen, immediately noted: “Didn’t they do the Green Lantern? With Ryan Reynolds. Too late! Green Lantern returns? Isn’t there a comic book, the Black Panther or something?”

Washington was then asked which his favorite superhero was, to which he answered: “That’s a tough one. You know, I hate to take a look out the window and think I could jump out like Superman, like Clark… hmmm, I always dug Thor in the comic books. Somewhere between Superman and Thor.”

Washington also revealed that he would love to have starred in The Incredibles too, stating that Brad Bird’s animated adventure is one of his favorite films of all time? Does that mean he could star in the impending sequel? If Bird had any sense he’d immediately be on the phone trying to get the Oscar winning actor’s vocal talents involved.

Do you think Denzel Washington would make a good James Bond?
