Kari Byron Petition: Discovery Might Rehire ‘Mythbusters’ Star

Some Kari Byron fans were so upset about the star getting cut from Mythbusters that they created a petition begging the Discovery Channel to bring back the bubbly redhead. Because of this petition, Kari fans now have a ray of hope — they might get to see her on TV again.

Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara also got the ax, but the Mythbusters viewers behind the petition had a good reason for singling out Kari Byron: she was the only woman on the show. The petition explained why it’s so important for there to be more women like Byron on science-oriented TV series.

“As the main female Mythbuster, Kari inspired a generation of girls and showed them that they too had a place in the traditionally male-dominated world of science.”

Kari Byron wasn’t just an inspiration for female fans, however — male viewers loved her because she was a cute girl with a great personality.

Over 30,000 Mythbusters fans signed the Kari Byron petition, and this was enough viewers to get the Discovery Channel’s attention. Unfortunately, the network doesn’t seem to be interested in bringing Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara back on Mythbusters in the near future. However, Discovery’s response to the petition hints that the trio might score a new series.

“We are all big fans of Kari as well as Tory and Grant and are looking for other projects where we can work with them,” the statement read.

The trio worked extremely well together as a team, so it would be a shame to split them up. Maybe Discovery should consider giving Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara a series similar to Mythbusters. Fans of the trio would love this because they’d get to see more of the group — they’d have no Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to share screen time with. Obviously, their show would have to be somewhat different from Mythbusters, but they could still do cool science-y stuff.

Discovery wants to go back to the “origins” of Mythbusters by focusing solely on Adam and Jamie. The dynamic duo will have more time to thoroughly test their myths, and they might simply work better together when it’s just the two of them. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Jamie Hyneman admitted that the cast members didn’t always get along. He and Adam Savage will get back the amount of control they had at the beginning of the show, and they won’t have to deal with a lot of different personalities. Maybe there were just too many cooks in the kitchen.

However, Kari Byron and the rest of the crew definitely deserve a little love from Discovery after all the crazy things that they did on Mythbusters. During an interview with Mental Floss, Byron talked about how much of herself she put into the show.

“When we were interviewed for this job, one of the things they asked us was would we be willing to donate bodily fluids. I’ve personally given vomit, blood, urine, flatulence. I’ve not had to donate any fecal matter — but I have given my dogs.”

Kari, Tori, and Grant have also made candles out of human earwax, let scorpions crawl on their faces, given themselves hangovers, and subjected themselves to various forms of torture. Their resumes are rather impressive.

Would you like to see Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara back together on a new Discovery series?
