Terry Crews Is The New Host Of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’

Terry Crews is bringing his considerable skills to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The multi-talented Expendables 3 star will take over as host for Season 13.

Although Crews has his hands full with a number of projects, the busy somehow found the time to fit the aforementioned game show into his extremely packed schedule. Once Cedric the Entertainer decided to bid farewell to the syndicated program, producers went on the prowl for a replacement. In this writer’s humble opinion, Terry is a fine choice. One need only to watch his Old Spice commercials to appreciate his comic timing.

According to WhoSay, Terry Crews is a pretty big fan of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Which is a good thing, really, considering he’s now hosting the show. During a behind-the-scenes interview, the actor revealed that he used to watch the show after his stint in the NFL, back when Regis Philbin was still hosting the primetime version.

“I remember retiring from the NFL in 1997, sitting around watching Regis, and I was like, ‘Wow I wish I could do that.’ And to flash forward to where I am right now in 2014 — I am the host!”

While Crews’ involvement with the show is definitely a good thing, some fans are understandably disappointed that Cedric decided to say goodbye to the syndicated program. Deadline explains that the Entertainer decided to drop the show from his schedule since he needed to lighten his workload a bit going forward.

However, it’s clear Cedric enjoyed his stint as host.

“With the many television and film projects that I have going on which shoot and promote in various parts of the country, a production-base in Connecticut would make it quite difficult to maneuver the many moving parts on my plate,” he said in a statement. “So, after much thought and some serious conversations with senior executives at the studio, I decided to let ABC know that, unfortunately, I’m not able to continue on as host. It has truly been a fantastic ride hosting Millionaire this year — a really great time! Thanks so much to all the fans, contestants, crew, and everyone involved for making it such a fun and gratifying experience. As I always say on the show in parting, ‘Watch your wallet’!”

Terry Crews will play host to a slew of money-hungry contestants when Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returns on September 8. Check your local listings.
