You Won’t Hodor Believe Who’s Not In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5

The fifth season of Game of Thrones upped the ante following an eventful season four that saw some characters die, some with dramatically new circumstances, and some book characters never appear. These changes will continue in Season Five, but Hodor actor Kristian Nairn knows two characters who won’t make an appearance at all and it has nothing to do with an untimely or gruesome death.

The 6’10 actor and DJ revealed he will get a break from carrying around his Game of Thrones companion Bran Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead Wright. For that matter, so will Wright.

“We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books,” Nairn told the Australian broadcast network.

“So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.”

Those that follow the books shouldn’t be too shocked by the revelation. Game of Thrones Season Four primarily adapted the third book in the series along with pieces of the fourth. However, Bran and Hodor’s storyline and their journey with the Jojen and Mira Reed beyond wall was severely truncated. It ultimately ran its course almost up to the end of the fifth and last book published by author George R.R. Martin to date. That doesn’t leave the Game of Thrones showrunners much to do with Bran and Hodor for the next season, unfortunately.

Meanwhile, Martin is still working at his own pace on the next book, The Winds of Winter. There’s no word on when that will be published but the creator of the epic fantasy series has already revealed that he’s skipping visiting the set of Game of Thrones for the upcoming season or writing one of the scripts. However, he does admit the pressure to not let the HBO show get ahead of the books is getting to him somewhat.

As Nairn mentioned, he will spend his year off from shooting Game of Thrones on tour with the Rave of Thones DJ tour. The Thrones-themed dance party is currently touring in Australia.

There’s no word on what Wright will be doing with his free time. IMDB currently lists only an animated film called The Boxtrolls releasing this month. Presumably, he’ll spend more of his time with school rather than acting.
