Benedict Cumberbatch Being Considered For Two DC Comics Roles [Report]

Benedict Cumberbatch is hot, no really. One of the most sought after actors not only in England, but the U.S is reportedly being eyed by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. for two roles in future blockbusters.

You may remember that in 2013 Ben played the villain Khan, in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. What’s different about this rumor is that Cumberbatch is reportedly being considered for roles in Man of Steel’s sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (currently under production in Detroit) and its follow up, the much awaited Justice League.

For the last few days there has been talk that Cumberbatch is being considered to play Martian Manhunter in Justice League. This apparently didn’t surprise Benedict when he was asked about it at the GQ Man of the Year awards — at which he was crowned Actor of the Year –, moreover, he wouldn’t even deny the rumor, but seemed to enjoy encouraging the ramblings:

“That’s a fun one, I’ve not heard that one until tonight,” Cumberbatch responded to the inquiry about his possible role a villain in Batman v Superman. “I’m going to let that rumour run.” he told BBC. This is less than helpful on Benedict’s part and only adds fuel to the current talk about the mysterious plot.

According to BBC Newsbeat Benedict could possibly be cast as a villain in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which keeps adding DC Comics characters to its lineup. We also continue to hear rumors about this or that character being included in anticipation of Justice League, but with no additional official casting announcements it’s hard to tell who will or won’t be in the films.

For all we know all these other superheroes that we expect to see in Batman v Superman will only be making a cameo at the end, to set things up for the sequel. We don’t know much about either plot. The only thing for certain is that Zack Snyder is on board to directi the much talked about mash up.

This latest rumor about Benedict Cumberbatch’s possible casting in both Batman v Superman and Justice League comes from a more solid source, however, we should still take it with a grain of salt. The fact that the Brit didn’t deny anything doesn’t necessarily mean that it is so.

After all Benedict Cumberbatch is known for his very sarcastic humor and unconventional dealings with the media and that is why he is beloved by millions of fans around the globe.
