Star Wars: The Old Republic release date announced

If you’ve been highly anticipating the launch of BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic, I hope you didn’t have any holiday plans lined up, because EA announced today that Star Wars: The Old Republic will release on December 20.

EA and BioWare dropped the news first during an event at the Eurogamer Expo, which is going on right now in the UK. In addition to revealing the North American release date, they also announced that The Old Republic will release in Europe two days later on December 22.

Shortly after the news broke, BioWare updated the official Star Wars: The Old Republicwebsite to reveal just what we’re going to be paying for the subscription-based MMO. After your complimentary month expires, you’ll have to fork over $15 a month. Alternatively, you can choose to pay $42 for three months, or $78 for six months.

“This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated their lives to build this extraordinary game,” said BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka at the event. “We appreciate the patience from the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release.”

If you just can’t wait until the December 20 release date, you still have the option to pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic over on Origin to ensure early access to the game.
