Inspired By ‘The Notebook,’ Brother And Sister Allegedly Have Sex Outside Church

A Georgia brother and sister were so taken with The Notebook that they allegedly committed incest in a church parking lot.

Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, The Notebook is the 2004 romantic drama — a.k.a. chick flick — directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, the late James Garner, and Gena Rowlands.

Unfolding in flashbacks, the movie about a young, star-crossed couple who fall in love in the 1940s has developed a cult following since its original release.

In the incident in question, police who were responding to a call about a possible prowler in the area stopped the siblings as they walked down the road at about 4:30 am.

“[The male] told police he was walking the woman home before cops learned the two were brother and sister and had just had sex in a Kentworth tractor trailer outside the Countryside Baptist Church, which sits across the road from South Effingham High School,” the New York Daily News reported.

The couple, who are both in their 20s, apparently were so inspired that they allegedly had sex three times after watching the movie together, according to news accounts.

Both were arrested on charges of incest, aggravated prowling, and sodomy, in the incident that occurred last Tuesday morning in Effingham County, Georgia, in the Savannah area, the Savannah Morning News reported. The woman was released from custody on a $9,000 bond while her brother is apparently still being held in Effingham County Jail on a $13,400 bond.

According to some accounts, the pair may be half siblings. Georgia law prohibits incest by siblings of “the whole blood or the half blood,” however.
