Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi Really Headed For Divorce? Not So Fast
Ellen DeGeneres has one again found herself the target of the Hollywood celebrity rumor mill. Recently, there has been a persistent rumor that DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi are headed for divorce.
The Inquisitr News recently reported that after an attempted reconciliation, the DeGeneres-de Rossi marriage seemed to have gone off the rails again. According to sources, DeGeneres had already washed her hands of her six year long marriage to de Rossi and was making arrangements to return to the single life. These arrangements allegedly included plastic surgery to remove wrinkles and laugh lines around her eyes.
The latest reports of a breakdown in DeGeneres’ marriage can be traced to the celebrity gossip website Celeb Dirty Laundry. The outlet reported that frequent infidelity on the part of DeGeneres put incredible strain on the marriage and led to drinking problem and rehab stint for Portia de Rossi. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the marriage is running on fumes, and it’s not a matter of if the two will divorce, but when the announcement will be made.
So are Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi really headed for divorce court?
Possibly, but probably not.
The rumor of a split between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi goes back to at least December of 2013. In an interview with People Magazine, DeGeneres speculated that the genesis of the rumor was a photo taken of de Rossi not wearing her wedding ring.
According to DeGeneres, her marriage is far from in trouble. With her trademark quirky sense of humor, DeGeneres reflected on the surreal quality of the constant rumors about her marriage. “The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, ‘I didn’t wear it because when I ride horses and I’m holding the reins, it gives me a blister!'”
It’s tempting to say DeGeneres protests too much; after all, celebrity divorces are nothing new and often don’t become public knowledge until the last minute. Consider this: Celebrity news outlets known for breaking celebrity news such as TMZ, E! Online, and Radar Online have had nothing to say about a possible split between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. In fact, the last three articles about DeGeneres that all three websites posted about involve a photo posted to Ellen DeGeneres’ Twitter account. The photo features DeGeneres and de Rossi cuddling and smiling for the camera with the word “six” written in the sky behind them. The photo was posted to commemorate the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary.

So don’t count out DeGeneres and de Rossi just yet.
