Shakira Is Pregnant Again: And Baby Makes Four
Shakira is pregnant and over the moon. The Colombian singer and former Voice coach confirmed in an interview that she and her boyfriend, soccer player Gerard Pique, are expecting their second child together.
In a sitdown for the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine (Mexican edition), Shakira talked about a litany of issues regarding her personal and professional life, but the pregnancy was the platinum piece of buzz that has many fans gushing.
Faced with growing gossip over a possible baby bump, the pop singer let the cat out the bag and gave a thumbs-up that she is with child for a second time, and at 37, she is in the best place in her life.
“Yes, I’m pregnant.”
During the chat with Cosmo, the Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) singer dished about her amazing career, which is blazing trails in the music business. Many credit her time on The Voice as the impetus behind her sudden resurgence and relevance.
On her relationship with her FC Barcelona soccer star boyfriend, Shakira painted the picture of a perfect mate, and said — without question — they are deeply in love with one another.
“Seeing me in love is a constant state, there are no questions as the answer is simply there.”
Although the She Wolf hitmaker confirmed pregnancy rumors, the beans were already spilled, thanks to her BFF. Recently, at an awards ceremony, singer Carlos Vives spoke freely on the baby buzz.
“Yes, she is pregnant and she’s very happy.”
However, the writing was already on the wall as far back as July. During the 2014 Brazil World Cup Final, instead of dazzling millions of fans and viewers with her signature belly-dancing, Shakira shielded her midriff and toned the serpentine routine down several notches.
Shakira and her boyfriend met four years ago and have been motoring along ever since — free of the obligatory drama that Hollywood A-listers seem to adore. She and Gerard welcomed their son, Milan Piqué Mebarak, into the world 19 months ago.
Shakira and Antonio de la Rúa, a lawyer and oldest son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rúadated, dated for 11 years before splitting in January of 2011. The couple never married and said there was no need to add papers to a relationship that inherently felt like a marriage.
