Mariah Carey’s Divorce From Nick Cannon Could Get Messy Over Custody Of Twins
Mariah Carey is getting divorced from husband Nick Cannon, as has been reported widely in the media recently, with allegations flying as to what actually led to the marriage breakdown.
A new report, published by US Magazine makes a whole lot of interesting revelations as to what caused the ultimate divorce between the couple, and some of the allegations are shocking.
The main crux of it seems to center around Mariah Carey’s demanding behavior and random idiosyncrasies which wore the relationship down over time. Things like needing to check in with Mariah when he was away at work took their toll on Cannon who allegedly didn’t contact her enough when he wasn’t home.
A source told the publication: “She always suspected when he was working that he was somehow out there cheating and she’d be home alone calling Nick 100 times a day. It got to be too much. And he was always faithful.”
But, even though Nick allegedly never cheated on Mariah, she was paranoid that he did. She was always reportedly jealous about his previous relationship with Kim Kardashian. “Mariah hates Kim because Nick really cared about her,” the source added.
One of the main problems was a clash in personalities between Carey and Cannon; while Nick was very open about most things, Mariah was a more private person.
“He was too open about their marriage for her taste. She’s private, and some of the things he revealed in interviews disgusted her,” the source said.
Another big sticking point for the couple was their approach to raising their children, 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
A source told US, “Mariah loves those kids but she lets them do whatever they want. Nick would be like ‘Why are you letting them stay up late and eat cookies?’ and Mariah would just snap at him not to tell her how to be with her kids. So then he always had to be the bad guy.”
When Cannon spoke to US Magazine back in March, he hinted at the fact that Mariah’s whole approach was different to his. “Mommy’s making sure they get all the proper training. I’m not really a proponent of putting kids into work at all. I think kids should just be kids and have fun.”
In April, Mariah showed her love for her kids in an interview with E! talking about the song she wrote for the twins. “I wrote a song for them on this album, and it’s called Supernatural, and dem babies are on the song. And they were singing this when they were just two. Mainly it’s Ms. Monroe singing, and Rock is on there. You’ll hear it, I can’t give it away. She is actually singing though.”
The source told US that custody of the kids is sure to be an issue when the divorce proceedings enter full swing. “He definitely won’t let her have full custody. She can barely take care of herself,” that source revealed.
No doubt, there will be much media speculation when it comes to the Mariah Carey divorce, and particularly when it comes to who will get custody of the twins.
