Ailina Tsarnaev: Boston Marathon Bomber Sister Arrested For Making Bomb Threat Of Her Own

Ailina Tsarnaev, sister of the Boston Marathon Bombing brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was arrested in New York City Wednesday for making an alleged bomb threat.

The Tsarnaev sister, 24, was booked for aggravated harassment following the reported bomb threat believed to be made to a woman over the phone on Monday.

CNN reports that the name of the female recipient of the Ailina Tsarnaev bomb threat was not released, but she did notify police of Tsarnaev’s threat, said NYPD Lieutenant John Grimpel.

According to Grimpel, Ailina Tsarnaev’s boyfriend “shares” a child with the woman to whom Ailina Tsarnaev made the threat.

Heralding from North Bergen, New Jersey, The Boston Bomber Tsarnaev sister turned herself in on Wednesday. Though no longer in custody, Alina Tsarnaev is scheduled to be in Manhattan criminal court September 30th, said Grimpel.

Ailina Tsarnaev’s brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, allegedly planted pressure-cooker bombs near the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon. When the bombs exploded, three people were killed and over 260 suffered injuries from the shrapnel hurling devices.

The older Boston Marathon bombing brother of Ailina Tsarnaev, Tamerlan, was ultimately shot down by police in a shootout once the Tsarnaev brothers had been identified as suspects in the bombing. Younger brother, Dzhokhar, inexplicably survived and escaped the shootout but suffered major wounds after later being cornered in a boat, stored in the backyard of a residence, where he had been hiding following brother, Tamerlan’s, death.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was taken into custody and is awaiting a November trial for terrorism charges related to the Boston Marathon bombing.

Meanwhile, The Boston Globe reports that Ailana Tsarnaev, along with another Tsarnaev sister named Bella, has enjoyed visits with brother Dzhokhar at a federal prison in Fort Devens, located in Ayer, Massachusetts.

According to the Globe, the Tsarnaev defense lawyers have been seeking private conversations with the younger Tsarnaev brother, Dzhokhar, as well as the Tsarnev sisters, Ailina and Bella, in an attempt to find out more about their family history. The Tsarnaev defense lawyers are expected to allege that younger Boston Bomber brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, participated in the tragic bombing only under the pressure of older brother, Tamerlan.

While the Tsarnaev sisters, Ailana and Bella, are believed to be living together in New Jersey, several New York media outlets are reporting that Katherine Russell, the widow of the deceased Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and mother of his child, is also residing with the Tsarnaev sisters.

Both Bella and Ailana Tsarnaev have previous run-ins with the law, though Ailana’s most recent charge of a bomb threat will likely trump any previous misgivings.
