ISIS In America: 300 U.S. Passport Holders Fighting With Militants, Islamic State Flag Unfurled Near White House

ISIS fighters in America are becoming a deep concern for senior United States officials, according to a new Washington Times report. The federal government is currently tracking 300 American passport holders who are fighting for the Islamic State. The vast number of individuals with U.S. passports who are believed to be supportive of the militant group have both citizens and politicians concerned about a terror attack on American soil.

The American ISIS fighter, Douglas McAuthur McCain, who was killed in an Islamic State battle over the weekend, highlighted the homeland threat the nation could be facing. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Texas Governor Rick Perry has stated that the illegal immigrants coming across the Mexican border are not merely unaccompanied children. The governor’s statements and Border Patrol statistics indicate that individuals from the Middle East and Africa have both been caught and gone uncaptured along the Texas border. Dr. William R. Forstchen’s new book, Day of Wrath, creates a realistic fictional scenario of ISIS coordinating multiple attacks on soft targets in America with just 100 fighters. The death toll in the attacks is nearly too heart-wrenching to contemplate.

Washington, D.C. officials fear that the American ISIS fighters will travel home and use their terror training to launch horrific attacks at either a single or multiple locations in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security likely has the Islamic State fighters with American and European passports on a terror watch list, but airplanes and boats are not the only ways to garner access into the United States. As Rick Perry pointed out, if unaccompanied children and women can walk or find coyotes to help them illegally enter America, a trained terrorist familiar would have little difficulty doing the same. Many now agree with the Texas Governor’s belief that border security is also a national security matter as well.

While the federal government has identified approximately 300 American passport holders as ISIS fighters or supporters, there could be an equal number of citizens who has avoided detection.

An unidentified senior United States official had this to say about the Islamic State supporters with American passports during an interview with the Washington Times:

“We know that there are several hundred American passport holders running around with ISIS in Syria or Iraq. It’s hard to tell whether or not they’re in Syria or moved to Iraq.”

The Islamic State continues to use Twitter to post graphic images of their actions and to issue threats to the United States. One recent ISIS tweet reads which showed the Old Republic building in Chicago in the background read, “We are in your state. We are in your cities. We are in your streets. You are our goals anywhere.”

One photo showed an ISIS flag unfurled in front of the White House at night; the Secret Service is investigating the incident. The Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin to law enforcement agencies urging them to “be alert” but did not identify any specific threat.

Do you think President Obama is taking the ISIS threat to America seriously enough? Will the Islamic State conduct terror attacks in the United States?
