Former Marine Left With Severe Injuries Outside Restaurant, Friend Claims He Was Told, ‘It’s Not Safe For Whites’

The tragedy that happened in Ferguson, Mississippi has been prominently reported in the news ever since the first report on Michael Brown’s death at the hands of a police officer. Since then, Ferguson, Mississippi became what some reporters (and eyewitnesses) have described as a war zone. Looting, pillaging, and violence were at a high at the time, and it seemed that things were going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

However, there is a mostly-unspoken issue that underlies the whole Ferguson, Mississippi incident, and that is race, primarily the Black Community to the White Community. The race card has been utilized liberally, especially on the fact that Michael Brown was an African-American teenager who was shot by a police officer who happens to be white. During Michael Brown’s eulogy, Al Sharpton brought up how the stereotypes among the Black Community need to be changed, and it has to be done by the Black Community itself.

Unfortunately, the race card has spilled over in Mississippi as it is now reported that a former Marine was left with life-threatening injuries after a quarrel outside of a restaurant that is said not to be safe for white.

Ralph Weems IV was left with life-threatening injuries after an altercation right outside a restaurant.

According to an article by Nola, West Point police said that Ralph Weems IV was the victim of an aggravated assault at a restaurant. It was last Sunday that a spokeswoman for the North Mississippi Medical Center, Genie Causey, stated that Weems was in fine condition without any further elaboration. Bradley Barnes, a relative of Weems, stated over the phone that his brother-in-law was in a medically induced coma following brain surgery.

“They’re going to try and wake him up tomorrow and see what damage was done.”

To whomever hurt Ralph Weems IV, it will not look good if his identity is found out. The majority of the country supports soldiers and veterans, and any news about them being mistreated tends to bring the public to arms. At this moment, however, only an eyewitness account is available as reported by The Blaze.

David Knighten told in his account that he and Ralph Weems IV had gone to a Waffle House on an early Saturday morning around 1 a.m. A man waved him over right outside the restaurant and told him politely that people were upset because of the killing of Michael Brown, and it wasn’t a safe place for whites. Taking the advice but not following it, Weems entered the restaurant which led to an altercation with other men, and eventually prompted the police to arrive.

Knighten said he and Ralph Weems IV left the Waffle House after the argument. They went to another restaurant known as the Huddle House, which had a nearly vacant parking lot. Unfortunately for them, they were followed in which it resulted in Weems being assaulted by a group of people.

The police arrived at 2 a.m. but the crowd had already dispersed leaving Ralph Weems IV with broken bones in his face, a cut over his left eye, and a blood clot in his right eye. After the incident, police gave a statement about the situation.

“It’s not clear whether or not all of the parties were involved in both incidents. This does not appear to be a hate crime. We are investigating this as an aggravated assault. It’s very early in this investigation but thus far the evidence and statements suggest that a verbal altercation turned physical and somebody got hurt.”

Do you think this is an isolated incident devoid of any association to race? Or is this truly the effects of the Ferguson incident pertaining to race? Please let us know in the comments below.
