Miley Cyrus’ Homeless VMA Date Is A Wanted Fugitive

Miley Cyrus has certainly changed over the last year. While her VMA behavior was much more responsible this time, she still hasn’t quite escaped the “wrecking ball” that her career has attracted.

While the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus appeared to be much more charitable appearing with a homeless date at the awards ceremony, there was something about him very few watching had known. The police have been looking for him. Miley Cyrus‘ homeless VMA date was actually a wanted fugitive.

Yes, the man who she let go on stage to accept her award has a warrant out for his arrest issued by the Oregon Police, and may be going back to jail soon.

Jesse Helt, 22, was arrested in 2010 at the age of 18 for criminal mischief and criminal trespass. He and a friend had allegedly broken into a man’s apartment because the man who rented it had sold them bad marijuana, according to the affidavit.

Helt had plead guilty to both misdemeanors and was held in jail for three weeks and given probation and drug treatment.

By the end of 2011, Jess Helt had violated his parole three times.

Helt’s acceptance speech at the VMA awards was said to bring awareness to youth homelessness:

“I’ve survived in shelters all over. I’ve cleaned your hotel rooms. I’ve been an extra in your movies. I’ve been an extra in your life.”

Apparently Helt had moved to Los Angeles to try to make a name for himself as a model and start a new life, but he wasn’t counting on the fame he now has. Cyrus didn’t seem to mind him though, having paid for his hotel room and the clothes he wore to the awards show. She even posted a picture on Instagram of the two of them at In ‘N’ Out Burger calling him her “hero.”

Linda Helt, Jesse’s mother, knew about what he was doing and told the press that he had met Miley Cyrus at a homeless shelter called My Friend’s Place.

Could Jesse Helt be trying to simply overcome his past and make a fresh start? Being associated with Cyrus might not be the best way to do it. It certainly brought him fame though, not only at the VMAs, but with the Oregon Police.

Unfortunately for Miley Cyrus’ homeless VMA date, Helt might not make it in Hollywood after the revelation that he is a wanted fugitive. Looking back on where they’ve both been for the past year, it seems he was in appropriate company at the ceremony.

Thanks to her behavior this time, the former Hanna Montana star may just be forgiven for her association with a wanted fugitive.
