‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 Spoilers: The Governor Could Reappear

The Walking Dead fans could be in for a big surprise during season 5 – The Governor might return.

According to Moviepilot, David Morrissey recently visited The Walking Dead set in Senoia, Georgia. But why was he there?

Here are Moviepilot‘s best guesses: Morrissey was attending another cast member’s death dinner; he’s going to appear in a flashback or hallucination; or he’s just in town to catch up with The Walking Dead cast. Here’s what The Spoiling Dead Fans wrote about David’s visit:

“David Morrissey was in Senoia earlier today at the coffee shop. Stated that he was headed to set to visit friends.”

This makes it sound like David Morrissey wasn’t headed to The Walking Dead set to film scenes for the show, but it’s possible he was lying about his reason for being in town. If The Governor is going to pop-up again, his appearance is probably supposed to be a surprise.

Many fans of The Walking Dead thought The Governor didn’t really die after getting stabbed by Michonne and shot by Lilly. According to Zap2It, David Morrissey refused to confirm that The Governor would stay gone for good after he was asked about the character during a Press Association interview:

“Something happened to him. I feel like a shady politician, where I can’t confirm and I can’t deny anything,” he hedges. “Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode, but we just have to wait and see.”

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd has stated that The Governor is definitely dead, but this doesn’t mean that he won’t show up in flashbacks. Perhaps he encountered some of the Terminus cannibals, or maybe he’ll be used to introduce a new character.

The Governor did have a brother in The Walking Dead comic books, and maybe the survivors will run into that brother in the Alexandria Safe-Zone. As Wetpaint reports, Senoia is the set location for this community from the comic books. The group of survivors might spend a ton of time here after making it their new home during season 5.

Perhaps The Governor and his brother visited the Alexandria Safe-Zone before going their separate ways and maybe his brother is still there. It would definitely be interesting to see the survivors encounter a relative of the man who caused them so much pain and suffering.

As The Inquisitr previously reported, fans of The Walking Dead don’t just have to worry about the return of The Governor — some viewers believe that an AMC promotional photo might hint at the death of Norman Reedus’ beloved redneck character Daryl Dixon. If the survivors move to a new place full of new people, don’t be surprised to see some of their group members getting killed off and replaced by fresh faces.
