Facebook, Time Warner Launch Anti-Bullying App

Facebook and Time Warner Inc. has launched the Stop Bullying: Speak Up Social Pledge App, an interactive social media pledge everyone to make a personal commitment to help stop bullying.

Marne Levine, Vice President of Global Public Policy at Facebook, in stressing their commitment against bullying:

“The Stop Bullying: Speak Up Social Pledge App is rooted in the fact that students, educators and parents have the power to stop bullying by speaking up when they see it occur. The launch of this campaign reinforces our deep commitment to the safety and security of kids everywhere. By working with Time Warner, our hope is to inspire millions of people who witness bullying to take action.”

The Stop Bullying: Speak Up Social Pledge App inspires students, educators, parents and those witnesses to bullying to take a pledge to specific actions that will help stop bullying. The app also allows them to share their pledge and stories with friends, family and recruit others to join the movement. People are encouraged as well to start their own school-based bullying prevention groups on Facebook.

Both companies, together with CNN, Cartoon Network and Time Inc., pledged to bring together their considerable resources and reach to millions of people to promote the app.
