China Targets Google, Baidu Over Porn

google-china-porn

The Chinese Government has warned Google, Baidu and other popular sites in China that they must do more to block porn.

Porn is banned in China but remains widely available.

The Chinese Government said in a statement that the sites had failed to take efficient measures in removing porn from its pages. The censorship of porn is meant to “purify the Internet’s cultural environment and protect the healthy development of minors.”

A Google China spokesperson quoted in an AP article said that Google does not have any pornographic content in Google China and “if we find any violation, we will take action. So far, I haven’t seen any examples of violations.”

Other sites targeted include Sina and Sohu.

haha, do you know ,Ducan, China internet users didn't always use Google or Baidu for looking for porn now. They are more and more interested in desktop software, eg. p2p tools like edonkey(not very popular in China) ,Xunlei(very popular P2SP software in China,) or BT, they are good at proxy soft tools to fu*k GFW.

In fact ,most Chinese net.citizens can NOT found any good porn sites when long long years ago.so ,Why “China Government warned Google, Baidu and other..” ?? They just wanna get their “Christmas Gifts” ,Yes! Extort the Companies, alike that ,they had performance the same opera year by year, that may not news in China now.

  2. Heh…if the Chinese want porn…their going to find it with or without the big search engines help. The internet is littered with it and most of the spam I get is related to either pills or porn!
