With only three races left before the Chase for the Cup and only two drivers without wins in the top ten, expect a wild race tonight as drivers try to make up ground and earn a spot in the Chase. With this year’s Chase format favoring wins over points — and with only 12 drivers with wins so far — you can expect drivers (especially those with lower points) to go all out to try to take the checkered flag.

Last year’s NASCAR Irwin Tools Night Race winner, Matt Kenseth, is among the drivers still looking for that first win. While he’s currently in good shape to make the chase as the leader in points among non-winning drivers (5th overall in points standings), look for Kenseth to try to ensure his position with a win, or at least shore it up with a solid finish. Kenseth is starting in the 16th position.

When you watch tonight’s NASCAR Irwin Tools Night Race, Kevin Harvick will be starting at the pole position. Jeff Gordon will be beside him in position two, with Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch making up the second row. Joey Logano starts in the fifth position, with Jimmie Johnson in sixth and Kurt Busch in seventh. Each of those drivers has at least one win and is ensured a spot in the NASCAR Chase for the Cup.

Greg Biffle starts in the eighth position, with the best qualifying time among drivers still looking for that first trip to Victory Lane in 2014. Brad Keselowski, who has taken the checkered flag three times this year, following in the ninth position while Marcos Ambrose — who is also looking for his first win of the year — is in the 10th position. Other notables include Dale Earnhardt Jr, starting in the 20th position, and Danica Patrick, starting in the 24th position. Despite the fact that she leads the NASCAR pack in Twitter followers, Danica is still looking for her first Sprint Cup victory. You can see the full starting order here and the full standings here.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, Tony Stewart will continue to sit out. It’s uncertain when or if Stewart, who is unlikely to qualify for the Chase for the Cup if he doesn’t win a race, will return to racing following the accident that killed sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr.
