Captain America ‘Honest Trailer,’ Ice Bucket Challenge And More

Just in time for the digital release of the movie, Screen Junkies released an Honest Trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In true Honest Trailer form, the series points out the various flaws in the film, but surprisingly acknowledges it as a well-directed good time! If you have not seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it is recommended that you hold off on watching the trailer, as it stomps all over spoilers throughout, and if you love the movie you’ll find even more to love about it in this trailer.

That wasn’t all in Captain America-related news. Chris Evans — the Captain himself — was recently nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (You can donate to the cause HERE). Not content to simply take the challenge per normal circumstances, Evans was determined to let the ice sit for 30 minutes in the water as he changed into more appropriate attire for the challenge — a suit and tie.

If you have not had a chance to check out Captain America: The Winter Soldier, now is the best time, as the film has just come out in digital format. On the heels of the extremely successful Guardians Of The Galaxy, now is the time to revisit any missed Marvel properties, especially one that plays off the Marvel Cinematic Universe as much as this one does. Playing itself more like a political thriller than a typical comic book movie, it’s also a film that will play to action buffs, even if they find they aren’t so engrossed with the comic book personas that are being portrayed on screen.

And lastly, as mentioned above, Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released digitally on August 19, via retailers like iTunes and Amazon. This is continuing on with the trend of having digital releases far ahead of their physical counterparts. If you’d like to check out the flick in physical format, you’ll have to wait until September 9, according to Bam! Smack! Pow!, which is a full three weeks back from its digital release.

This all is in accordance with trends in sales. In an article from The Wall Street Journal, Ron Sanders, home entertainment president for Warner Bros., shares that they’ve “seen a fundamental shift in consumer behavior based on that early digital availability.” As such, it makes sense they’d continue with this strategy as the physical media slowly dies out in favor of digital.
