Redheaded Males Need Not Apply At Sperm Banks

Cryos Sperm Bank, the world’s largest sperm bank, has started to turn away redheaded donors. Why? Well, there are far too many redheaded donors and not enough demand for redhead sperm.

Ole Schou, Cryos’s director, said:

“There are too many redheads in relation to demand. I do not think you choose a redhead, unless the partner – for example, the sterile male – has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads. And that’s perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case.”

Is Mr. Schou implying that women don’t find redheaded men attractive? Schou said that there is only one place in the world where there is a demand for redheaded sperm. Ireland. Schou that sperm from redheaded donors “sells like hotcakes” in Ireland.

Cryo’s has seen a surge of donations in recent years which has allowed them to be more selective about donors. The Telegraph reports that Cryo’s has reached their peak capacity of 70 liters (19 gallons) of sperm and that they have more than 600 males on a waiting list to donate.

So what mane shade is in high demand? According to Schou, the sperm bank has a lot of customers in Italy, Spain, and Greece, which means that the sperm from men with brown hair and brown eyes is in high demand.

And if you happened to be blessed with brown locks, you can make a $500 donation at Cryos. Of course, you’ll have to wait your turn behind 600 other potential donors.

Do you think the Cryos Sperm Bank is being discriminatory by turning away redheads?
