Kevin Sorbo Apologizes For His Ferguson Comments: ‘I Am An Idiot’

As The Inquisitr previously reported, actor Kevin Sorbo issued a statement on his Facebook page in regards to the riots taking place in Ferguson, Missouri. In the statement, Sorbo said that the riots taking place “have very little to do with the shooting” of Michael Brown.

“It is an excuse to be the losers these animals truly are,” Sorbo wrote. “It is a tipping point to frustration built up over years of not trying, but blaming everyone else, The Man, for their failures.”

Sorbo continued by mentioning that people like the rioters in Ferguson believe it’s “someone else’s fault when you give up.”

“Hopefully this is a reminder to the African Americans (I always thought we just Americans. Oh, well.) that their President [they] voted in has only made things worse for them, not better,” he added.

The post drew a lot of criticism, and Kevin Sorbo has since removed it. He then issued an apology on his Facebook page, saying that he stands “humiliated and humbled,” and he gave his “sincere apologies.”

“I posted out of frustration and anger over the violence and looting,” Sorbo continued. “My words were never meant to hurt the African-American community.”

Kevin Sorbo added that the people he called “losers” were the ones “doing the looting and the vandalizing and violence toward others.”

“Anyone who does that is a loser in my book,” he wrote. “So I will not apologise to those who are looting stores and vandalising there [sic] own community.”

Kevin Sorbo said that Ferguson needs to have “real leaders” come out of the area “to deal with the problems of the excessive use of police force.”

“I agree with you that the police action has only added to the reaction of the residents of Ferguson,” he wrote.

Kevin Sorbo concluded by saying he holds himself “accountable” for his comments.

“I am an idiot and do hold myself accountable for the way my post came off,” he said

Sorbo also went on TMZ to talk about the now-deleted post.

“Like politicians always say, things are taken out of context,” he said. “Look, I’ve got plenty of friends from all races and all religions and all colors and all breeds. I’m hardly a racist.”

Kevin Sorbo continued by clarifying his original post, saying that he meant “what’s going on in our country right now is building resentment toward a lot of things.”

“There’s a lot of anger building up with a lot of people, and I think we’re at a tipping point where people are just ready to go off no matter what happens,” he added. “To use looting and to use more rioting as an excuse for what happened in Ferguson… we just don’t have all the facts and everything lined up yet.”

But Kevin Sorbo also didn’t agree with the action the cops took.

“I’m not saying what the officers did was a good thing or a right thing at all,” he continued. “I’m just saying that we’re always looking for reasons to blame other people for the failures in their life.”

Do you think people overreacted to Kevin Sorbo’s original post?
