Fans can watch the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards live online and see whether this year can live up to the award show’s controversy loving past.

The MTV VMAs — and the inevitable controversial moments that come with them — have become an annual end-of-summer tradition right alongside Labor Day and the dreaded back to school. The 2013 VMAs were particularly memorable, with Miley Cyrus delivering an iconic and much talked about moment when she twerked on singer Robin Thicke while wearing noting but a bra and underwear.

Those who watch the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards live online may get a chance to see a follow-up. Though she’s not listed as a performer this time around, Miley Cyrus recently announced that she plans to attend the event.

The show starts Sunday at 9 p.m. from the Forum in Inglewood, California.

With out without Miley and her antics, the 2014 VMAs promise to be quite a show. MTV announced that the show will include the first-ever live performance of “Bang Bang,” the summer smash featuring Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande.

To add to the excitement, the official video for “Bang Bang” will premiere immediately afterward at BangBang.mtv.com.

There also looks to be some strong competition for the MTV VMAs. The Video of the Year category gives Miley Cyrus another chance to grace the stage, while also featuring a handful of newcomers to the music world.
