Ellie Goulding Dares Prince Harry To Take The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Ellie Goulding has dared Prince Harry to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. While most other singers are inviting famous friends, spouses and fellow celebrities to do the challenge, Ellie Goulding was brave enough to throw down the gauntlet to an actual member of the British Royal Family.

Goulding isn’t entirely alone. According to Hello Daily News, Lindsay Lohan and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver also wants Prince Harry in the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Prince Harry is known for his down-to-earth antics. After his naked romp in Las Vegas back in 2012, having a bucket of water and ice thrown on his royal head would be comparatively tame.

It may come as a surprise that Prince Harry wasn’t Ellie Goulding’s first choice. The 27-year-old singer initially challenged her manager to submit to having an icy bucket of water dumped on his head. He declined. That’s when Goulding took to Twitter to invite Prince Harry to take his place.

“So my manager isn’t going to do the ice challenge (but donate) so I renominate Prince Harry. Who told me with enough peer pressure…”

Like many other celebrities, Ellie Goulding supported various charities even before the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge gained popularity this year. An avid runner, the British performer participated in the Bupa Great North Run for the British Heart Foundation in 2010. In 2011, she was associated with the She Runs LA event for charity Students Run LA.

Although it is not known whether Prince Harry will participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, he does have a very personal connection to the cause through his paternal aunt. According to Hollywood, Anne, Princess Royal, is a patron of Britain’s Motor Neurone Disease Association. She is the sister of Charles, Prince of Wales, the father of Prince Harry.

Ellie Goulding performed at the wedding of Prince William to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, another celebrity who recently dared to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was the lovely Nicole Scherzinger. The Pussycat Dolls singer stood on a sandy beach wearing a two-toned, two-piece swimsuit topped with a tiny pair of swim shorts as a man threw a bucket of water over her head and face.

Unlike Ellie Goulding, Scherzinger kept her ice bucket nominees to commoners, electing Canadian singer Kiesza, songwriter Tricky Stewart and rapper The Dream, to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or motor neuron disease, also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
