Get to Know Your New Mockingbird, Adrianne Palicki

Adrianne Palicki will join the cast of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this fall as Bobby Morse. Morse, better known as Mockingbird, is a genius biologist/gymnast/spy who graduated at the top of her SHIELD class and is the love interest of Hawkeye. She has no superpowers, but is proficient with a wide range of weapons and multiple forms of hand-to-hand combat. Her trademark weapon is a pair of batons that can be combined to form a single b?-staff in combat.

Palicki’s first appearance as Mockingbird is planned for the fifth episode of the show’s second season. Lucy Lawless, Kyle MacLachlan, Henry Simmons, and Reed Diamond will also be joining the cast, as the S.H.I.E.L.D. team struggles to rebuild several months after the events of the first season finale.

Palicki grew up in Toledo, where she was a popular student and runner up for homecoming queen at Whitmer High School. When she was trying to get her start in the entertainment industry, her mother asked Katie Holmes’ mother, a fellow Ohio native, for advice.

You might think that Adrianne Palicki earned the role as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Mockingbird based on her good looks alone, but she’s actually a lifetime comic book fan. Her interest in comic books has attracted her to other superhero themed projects in the past, including the title role in NBC’s Wonder Woman pilot and the role of the evil Nadia in the WB Aquaman pilot. Unfortunately, neither project was picked up as a regular series.

Palicki has tattoos of Supergirl and says her dream gig as an actress would be to star in a movie remake of Supergirl. However, if she weren’t an actress, Palicki says she would have pursued a career as an artist. She visits art museums regularly and enjoys painting as a hobby. Her interest in art and comics appears to be a family affair, as her brother works as a professional comic book artist.

Episodes of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. often contain intense fight sequences, but Palicki says she’s not afraid to do her own stunts. When she played a girl pregnant with the messiah in the movie Legion, she even managed to do them while appearing to be several months pregnant!

If you can’t get enough of Adrianne Palicki, you’ll also be able to see her in the upcoming Canadian film Dr. Cabbie. The movie is scheduled to make its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and co-stars Kunal Nayyar of the hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
