Gay Marriage is Legal in Riverdale? Gay Archie Character, Kevin Keller, To Get Married

Last year Archie Comics broke new ground when they introduced Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in Riverdale. Well, the Life With Archie comic is continuing to pave the way for homosexual fictional characters. Kevin Keller will be getting married in an upcoming issue.

Archie Comic Publications said in a release:

“Kevin followed in his father’s foot steps and is returning to Riverdale as a war hero, but that’s not all – It’s Kevin’s wedding day! The whole gang turns out for Kevin Keller’s wedding as we discover how Kevin met ‘Mr. Right.'”

On Top Magazine reports that the Keller wedding will be featured in Life With Archie #16. The same issue will also deal with Archie’s separation from his wife Veronica.

Of course, any gay wedding, even a fictional gay wedding, is going to draw some criticism. Peter Spriggs of the Christian conservative Family Research Council told Fox News:

“It is unfortunate that a comic book series usually seen as depicting innocent, all-American life is now being used to advance the sexual revolution.”

But is Archie really a tool of sexual revolution? Or is it just reflecting modern society?

Dan Parent, who authored the miniseries featuring Kevin Keller, said:

“The world of Riverdale has to reflect contemporary culture and to show it as an accepting, diverse place. And that’s why Kevin is important, to show that everybody is welcome in this all-American town we’ve embraced for over 70 years.”

Life With Archie #16 will hit newsstands in January.

Are you offended by Riverdale’s blatant support of homosexuality? Will the Westboro Baptist Church picket the Kevin Keller wedding?
