‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5: Evidence Daryl Dixon Might Die?

The Walking Dead season 5 could lose a lot of viewers if a set photo proves to be a plot spoiler.

Fans have long threatened to riot if Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) gets killed off, and it looks like the hillbilly with a heart of gold just might be in danger of becoming a Terminus appetizer — or at least that’s what the cruel The Walking Dead promotional department wants you to think.

As The Gospel Herald report points out, an AMC promo photo published on The Walking Dead Facebook page features all the survivors who were locked up in the train car at Terminus — except one. The above photo includes Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.), Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson), Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Unsurprisingly, a top comment below the Facebook photo reads, “Where’s Daryl?”

Unfortunately, the promo department isn’t trying to help The Walking Dead fans deal with the long wait for season 5 by creating a zombie apocalypse version of Where’s Waldo? Norman Reedus really is missing from the photo, so maybe it’s time for fans to start grabbing those pitchforks, torches, crossbows, and crossbows that shoot flaming pitchfork arrows.

The Gospel Herald also points to an emotional tweet from Norman Reedus as evidence that Daryl Dixon has been killed off of The Walking Dead:

Reedus also admitted to listening to a U2 song that left him in tears. However, maybe Norman is just a sensitive guy — he’s not Daryl Dixon, and he doesn’t try to hide his feelings like the hillbilly with a heart of gold. It’s possible he was listening to “Drowning Man” to get the waterworks flowing for an emotional scene — on Instagram he revealed that the love song was his The Walking Dead set tune of the day.

So was Norman Reedus getting ready to shoot Daryl Dixon’s death scene? Showrunner Robert Kirkman did recently try to scare fans of The Walking Dead by casually saying that Daryl will be killed off during season 5. Here’s what he told Entertainment Weekly:

“In our premiere episode of season 5 we’re going to give a ton of answers of who the people of Terminus are, what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, what’s going on with them. And by the end of that episode you’re going to have a much better understanding of what’s going on with them and why they’re so important to the show. Oh, and Daryl dies.”

It’s obvious that he was joking, right? Or maybe he wanted fans to think he was joking, but he was really dropping a huge spoiler.

However, Robert Kirkman would really anger a large portion of The Walking Dead fans if he killed Norman Reedus’ character off, and he’s already hinted that he wants to explore the Daryl Dixon character a little more. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Kirkman recently revealed that the quiet, crossbow-toting redneck might be gay. Here’s his response to a question about the possibility of Daryl Dixon being gay:

“All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”

It seems as though there hasn’t been enough time to tackle Daryl’s love life during season 5, and this could be a good thing for The Walking Dead fans who don’t want to see Norman Reedus’ character killed off anytime soon. Kirkman’s comment makes it sound like the show is taking things slow with Dixon’s story because there’s going to be plenty of time to tell it. For the record, Norman has a different view on Daryl Dixon’s love life. Here’s what he told Zap2it:

“I’m trying to play him like he’s a total virgin. Like if someone were to try to kiss him he’d be like, ‘Eeeeee.'”

Maybe Dixon is a gay virgin — now that would be a cool plot twist. If this ends up being the case, hopefully he doesn’t die a virgin.

Getting back to the Daryl Dixon death scare, a nice Facebook fan tried to allay the fears of Dixon’s Vixens and Norman’s Nymphos by sharing a second photo from the set of The Walking Dead. It shows Norman posing with the survivors in front of the Terminus train car.

The photo appears to be a screenshot from a behind-the-scenes video posted on the official Walking Dead website, so it looks like AMC was just trying to mess with Daryl Dixon fans by releasing the Reedus-less official photo.

How long do you think Daryl Dixon will last on The Walking Dead? And would you like to see Bethyl or Caryl happen, or would you prefer for the show to reveal that Norman Reedus’ character is a gay virgin who is in love with Rick?
