‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: The New Adam Newman Has Been Cast

There’s a new Adam Newman coming to town on The Young & the Restless, and there is finally and face and a name to go with the mysterious body lurking around Genoa City. Justin Hartley will be taking over the role vacated last winter by Michael Muhney. While Muhney fans surely are never going to be happy seeing any other actor in the role, Hartley does pique the interest of many other Y&R fans.

According to TV Guide’s The Young & the Restless spoilers, Justin Hartley will begin filming the role of Adam Newman in September. He should finally appear on-screen during the November sweeps. That means that Y&R viewers will have to be patient for a bit longer yet, but they are thrilled to know that Adam’s return is on the way and that a strong actor is taking on the opportunity.

As Y&R fans know, casting a replacement for Michael Muhney has been quite difficult. In fact, it seems those with the show may have tried to negotiate for Muhney’s return, and he declined the opportunity. Many were curious to see if the show would be able to bring in a big name to take on the role of Adam Newman, or if they’d go with a newcomer. It looks like they went with an established name.

Justin Hartley’s name will be familiar to many television fans, as he has appeared on a number of shows. Hartley got his start on television in the soap genre, playing Nicholas Foxworth Crane on Passions. As TVLine notes, after that role Justin Hartley went on to appear in significant roles on Smallville, Emily Owens M.D., Revenge and Mistresses. Some might wonder why he’s headed back to soaps given his recent primetime opportunities, but he says he’s “so pumped” about joining The Young & the Restless.

Hartley says he has “great respect for daytime drama,” and “It’s all about story and character with me.” He met with Angelica McDaniel and Jill Farren Phelps to discuss the role, and apparently he just couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Justin says, “The powers that be are smart, lovely people with kind hearts.” He adds, “It’ll be wonderful going to work knowing I’m really wanted.”

The actor does admit, however, that he’s a bit nervous. Obviously it’s going to be very tough to step in and take over this role, one that fans remain extremely passionate about. From the sounds of things, this fall is going to be quite explosive on Y&R, as previous spoilers revealed that Meredith Baxter is joining the show and her character has an agenda as well. Will The Young & the Restless fans accept Justin Hartley in the role of Adam Newman? He knows he’s got to give it everything he’s got, and many are anxious to see how it goes.
