Sarah Palin Blames Obama’s ‘Ugly Thug Tactics’ For Rick Perry Indictment

Sarah Palin is taking on Barack Obama, claiming that it was the president’s order to followers to “bring a gun to a knife fight” that led to an indictment against Texas governor Rick Perry.

Perry was indicted on two counts of abuse of power, with claims that he cut millions in funding from the office of the district attorney in Travis County because she failed to resign after a drunk driving arrest.
Sarah Palin believes the indictment is an example of the “ugly thug politics” that Obama has called for among liberals. She claimed that the district attorney in question, Rosemary Lehmberg, should have done the “appropriate and honorable thing” and resigned her position.

Palin said it was pressure from Democrats that kept Lehmberg in office.

“But because this D.A. is a hardcore Democrat in a hardcore-Democrat county, and Governor Perry is a Republican, Democrats rallied around her and she refused to resign,” Palin wrote in an editorial for Fox News.

But Palin said she is sure Perry will prevail — and that Americans will side with him.

Sarah Palin wrote:

I don’t worry about Perry, personally, in all this because he’ll have a microphone plus millions in people and dollars to mount a strong defense at the courthouse and in the court of public opinion. But what we should all worry about is that the left doesn’t care about the end result, they only care about immediate headlines in their strategy to destroy a person.

Most Americans will only read that glaring headline orchestrated on a Friday night to minimize rebuttals: “Rick Perry Indicted On Felony Corruption Charges!” Once that bell is rung, it’s impossible to un-ring it.

I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason, so in hindsight I can value my own experience as a conservative governor dealing with leftwing activists who would stop at nothing to take out a successful Republican.

Many believe the indictment against Rick Perry could kill his hopes of a presidential run in 2016, though NBC News writer Perry Bacon Jr. notes that Perry was already a long shot.

“Perry though had a huge political problem even before this indictment: the memories fellow Republicans have of his 2012 run,” Bacon wrote. “The longtime Texas governor didn’t just flame out, quitting without winning a single primary. He became a national laughingstock after a debate in which he couldn’t remember the three federal agencies he was proposing to close, memorably saying ‘oops’ after naming two.”

Oddly enough, the indictment against Rick Perry could be a good thing for Sarah Palin. Not only did it give her another chance to publicly attack Obama, it also creates more of an opening should she choose to run for president in 2016.
